Belinda Wearne · Paintings & Clay
We are portals.
Archetypal women, drawn from clay and paint — each one arriving with her own crown, her own knowing. I don't decide them. I create the conditions, and something with a soul lands into form.

I make what I can't see into something I can. These women are not portraits — they are revelations. The unseen lives of women, pulled out of earth and canvas and handed back to the world.

The making
I don't tell them.
They speak what they are.
Each figure arrives wearing attributes she chose for herself — stars, peacock eyes, a halo of woven cane, a crown still in leaf. I keep my hands moving and trust, the way you make marks in life drawing until the right one lands. The work knew what it was before I did.
